How the courses work

Each course takes between 30 and 45 minutes. You can complete a course in one sitting or close it and return to where you left off at any time. You can take one course or all of them, in any order you wish, and download handouts to return to afterwards.

Certificates are provided for all completed courses, which you can share on LinkedIn and social media.

The courses are free and open to anyone over 18. Because the subject matter is sensitive, everyone who registers first takes our Minding Yourself in Dublin Rape Crisis Centre Training, a short course of 5 to 10 minutes. It invites you to check in with yourself before you begin, offers supportive and grounding techniques, and outlines the supports available from Dublin Rape Crisis Centre, including the National 24-Hour Helpline, 1800 77 8888, which is free and confidential.

The courses

consent course

Introduction to Consent

What consent means, how it is communicated, and how it is defined in Irish law. This course will help you feel more confident discussing, expressing and recognising consent.

Misconceptions course

Misconceptions About Sexual Violence

This course takes apart the myths that surround sexual violence: that victims were "asking for it", that perpetrators are strangers, that a victim who did not say no was consenting. It looks at gender and stereotypes, and at the survival mechanisms and trauma responses that shape how people react during and after an assault.

Lets chat course

Let's Chat: Your Child's Life Online

For parents and guardians, this course will help you understand some of what your child may be seeing online, from influencers and algorithms to pornography, and give you the confidence to talk to them about it, question what they see, and keep the conversation open.

Who are the courses for?

Anyone over 18 with an interest in learning more about consent, healthy relationships and the impact of sexual violence. They may be particularly useful for:

Parents who want to be better prepared to discuss these topics with their children, but are unsure where to start.

Teachers, educators and youth workers, as standalone resources or as a foundation ahead of our in-depth youth programmes, BodyRight and Let's Get Real

Healthcare and caring professionals, as an accessible introduction to trauma-informed, consent-based care in a time-scarce sector.

Schools, colleges and universities seeking to build safer, healthier learning environments and strengthen support for victims/survivors among staff and students.

Sporting organisations, charities and voluntary groups looking to build a safer, more trauma-informed culture across staff, volunteers and members, with minimal time commitment.

Employers in the corporate and public sectors who want to standardise understanding of consent and sexual violence across teams and enhance support for victims/survivors in the workplace.

For organisations

For a small fee, Dublin Rape Crisis Centre can organise bulk registration of learners and track progress and completion. We can also adapt the courses to meet the needs of your organisation. The self-directed courses work well as an introduction ahead of our more in-depth, live training. To find out more, contact etadmin@rcc.ie
