Webinar: The SAVI Report -20 Years on

09 December 2022

In 2002, Ireland saw its first ever survey on the population-wide prevalence of sexual violence. To mark the 20th anniversary of this ground-breaking SAVI report (Sexual Abuse & Violence in Ireland), on 8 Dec 2022 as part of the #16daysofactivism, DRCC hosted a webinar with a keynote address from lead SAVI reseacher and academic, Professor Hannah McGee of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland on the context and impact of SAVI.

It also features Helen McGrath of the Central Statistics Office and Philip McCormack of the Department of Justice on the new and long-awaited Sexual Violence Survey, which is planned to be published in 2023, and how SAVI influenced its development. The webinar also features Adam May of Language and DRCC's Sarah Monaghan on our research on consent in Ireland ahead of a major campaign in 2023, and the event closes with a reflection by DRCC Policy Manager Shirley Scott. The webinar is chaired by DRCC's CEO Noeline Blackwell.

The video includes ISL interpretation.
