Today Justice Paul Gilligan delivered his judgment in the High Court on the publication of the Commission of Investigation into Clerical Sexual Abuse in the Archdiocese between 1975 and 2004.

Ellen O’Malley-Dunlop, Chief Executive, DRCC, said “We welcome Justice Gilligan’s decision to publish the report. It may be difficult for some victims of clerical abuse to understand that some of the report cannot be published at this time but as Justice Gilligan points out, publishing these details could prejudice cases still to come before the courts. However it is very important that the bulk of the report is published and that the public finally have access to this long awaited report.

We know that the publication of the report will trigger a lot of painful memories and feelings for victims of sexual abuse. We are here to support them. Having learned from the experience of the Ryan Report publication, we are confident that the demands on our services will be met and that victims and their families will be responded to in a professional, confidential, caring and immediate manner. The centre operates the National 24 Hour Helpline for victims of rape and sexual abuse. There is always a person at the end of the line 1 800 77 88 88.”
