The Dublin Rape Crisis Centre (DRCC) welcomes Justice McDermott rejection of the challenge to the 2012 Children’s Rights Referendum.

Ellen O’Malley-Dunlop, Chief Executive of the DRCC said

“It is a good day for the children of Ireland that after the long wait, their rights will now be enshrined in our Constitution. We look forward to the delivery of the necessary legislation by Minister Frances Fitzgerald and her team. We are hopeful that we will all be able to work collaboratively for the safeguarding and well being of all our children. We call for an assurance from Government that Minister Fitzgerald will be given the resources to deliver on her most important work.

We never again want to see another report like that of Ryan, Murphy or Cloyne.”

Ends.
