Top Irish Artists Produce Powerful Charity Single

‘Turn off the Silence’ with the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre

Two of Ireland’s most popular Irish Musicians, Mundy and Danny O’ Reilly have given their support to the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre by collaborating on a new single to help generate much needed funds for the charity. Both artists took time from their very busy schedules to write on this emotional and moving song which incorporates lines such as “So many stories that haven’t been told, but the minute you speak you have broken the mould” in just two days.

Mundy, who recently appeared on RTÉ’s ‘The Hit’ and who is currently performing a number of dates across Ireland & Europe was approached through a friend of the DRCC team and was delighted to have the opportunity to work with Danny O’Reilly from the Coronas who is a family friend of the DRCC’s CEO, Ellen O’Malley Dunlop.

Róisín O who is just back from her US solo tour, and is now supporting Ryan Sheridan on his 16-date German tour along with promoting the release of her album in Germany, Austria & Switzerland, has since recorded the song as a duet with Mundy.

The soulful interpretation of the compassionate lyrics, highlights how victims of abuse can feel, and who they can confide in for healing.

Ellen O’Malley Dunlop spoke of the collaboration  “The Dublin Rape Crisis are so grateful to Mundy, Danny, Roisin and the entire team, who helped produce this song for us. We are so appreciative of the time which was generously taken from their incredibly busy schedules and we are overwhelmed by the result achieved. We hope the song is a huge success for both the charity and each of the artists.”

Westland Studios, with Alwyn Walker at the helm, recorded and produced the song, and it was mastered by Darrell Walker at MSB Mastering. Musicians featured on the song include Sarah Lynch, Keith Farrell, and Jason Duffy.

Raising money for the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre is not easy; Rape, as a word alone carries a sense of fear, taboo and secretiveness. With a staggering 9,000 genuine contacts to the  Dublin Rape Crisis Centre 24-Hour Helpline last year alone, the need for services is clearer than ever.

‘Turn off the Silence’ charity single is now available on iTunes for €1.29 or please make a donation on the drcc website. www.drcc.ie
